FALL 18 - MEN
Balenciaga introduces its first menswear pre-collection with a series of character observations which captures men on sidewalks and road-crossings in Paris. The research into connecting and fusing archetypal garments, which began with the women Summer 18 collection, has been taken further with the object of reconfiguring recognisable clothes for an easy daily wardrobe for men. Alternatives for wearing some pieces two ways are embedded into the design, as in the trompe l’oeil treatment of checked shirts that are in fact connected to t-shirts, which seem to be draped like scarves at first glance. The two-way conversation between the ordinary and the extraordinary, between fashion and utility, emphasises the Balenciaga priority of putting choice in the hands of the personality of the wearer.
