About Balenciaga Music

As music is an inherent part of Balenciaga’s culture and creative force, the Balenciaga Music platform was conceived to offer a 360 experience that includes hand-selected playlists, limited-edition merchandise, exclusive content, and interactive campaigns. It introduces mixes made by a variety of artists working all over the world through a large variety of genres, individually selected by Demna. These artists are invited to share their musical influences, collaborate on products, and/or produce original compositions—especially for Balenciaga. The platform also catalogues sounds created for runway shows and other activations. The development of new technology, such as wearable NFC chips, allows for special listening experiences within this ever-evolving project.

Starting December 12th, 2024, an original playlist curated by celebrated pianist Wu Muye will be available to stream via Balenciaga Music. As the first Chinese artist invited by the House to curate a Balenciaga Music playlist, Muye has selected some of his key inspirations and current favorites, spanning genres from classical to rock, jazz, and hip-hop, along with a track from his latest album, ‘Destiny’. A dedicated page on balenciaga.com will provide links to multiple streaming platforms— including QQ Music, Apple Music, and Spotify—giving global listeners access to his playlist.
Following the playlist launch, Muye will premiere his worldwide tour with a concert at the Shanghai Music Hall on December 15th.
An internationally acclaimed Chinese pianist, Muye was a child prodigy, learning both piano and violin at the age of four. He later moved to Paris to study under French pianist Jacques Rouvier, ultimately earning a PhD from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse. Over the years, he has gained widespread recognition and awards for his recitals, cultural influence, and positive societal contributions. Notably, he was the first Chinese pianist to receive the Perfect Piano Performing Artist Medal from the French Ministry of Culture.
A virtuoso bridging Asian and European musical traditions, Muye has performed at high-profile international ceremonies and in iconic venues worldwide, including landmarks and prestigious concert halls. Considered one of the industry’s most promising pianists, his recital tours breathe new life into the works of classical masters such as Liszt, Schubert, Chopin, and Beethoven.
The Balenciaga Music I Wu Muye Playlist launch is accompanied by a campaign of images and videos directed by Lucca Lutzky, featuring Muye playing the piano in a serene beachside setting.
Balenciaga Music invites artists to create original playlists that reflect their unique personal tastes, offering audiences insight into their artistic influences and backgrounds. These artists are selected by Demna, who launched the series with his own mix.
