The Characters Campaign

On October 8th, 2024, Balenciaga launches the latest chapter of a character study featuring brand ambassador actress Michelle Yeoh and actress Naomi Watts. The new campaign, photographed by Nadav Kander, spotlights Balenciaga’s iconic Le City Bag—first introduced in 2001 and brought back today as a reconstituted classic.
The celebrated actresses play a sensational version of themselves in an auditionlike atmosphere. A simple chair on a blank backdrop allows for a theatrical threequarter turn toward the audience. Each one holds a small top handle Le City Bag in optic white, adorned with a personalized assortment of charms that emphasizes its maximalist approach.
The new bag line, available in Balenciaga stores worldwide and on balenciga.com, combines the most enigmatic elements of several vintage Le City styles, culminating in a hand-assembled 25-panel multi-layered and lined piece, its reinforced corners decorated with signature metal buckles and thimble-shaped studs. Some of its many zippered pockets are strung with leather laces, another of the line’s hallmarks; its hinged handles are finished with braided leather.

Launching July 18th, 2024, a new Balenciaga campaign features brand ambassadors Isabelle Huppert and Kim Kardashian, as well as actress Naomi Watts, holding the iconic Rodeo Bag in a series of photographs by Nadav Kander.
Each star shows a facet of herself by creating a character study, sitting in a simple chair on a white seamless. She is dressed in signature Balenciaga ready-to-wear: hybrid garments, kick silhouettes, evening dresses, and Knife stilettos.
In the hands and laps of these characters sit the Rodeo Bag, crafted in exquisite calfskin with a matte finish. Its singular construction, versatile closure system, pre-worn accordion pleats, softened piping, and raw edges evoke the relaxed sensation associated with a favorite item worn daily or an heirloom passed between generations.

Launching August 29th, 2024, a Balenciaga campaign features brand ambassadors Isabelle Huppert and Michelle Yeoh, as well as actress Naomi Watts, holding the newly released Bel Air bag in a series of photographs and behind-the-scenes videos by Nadav Kander.
Each star shows a facet of herself by creating a character study, sitting in a simple chair on a white background. She is dressed in signature Balenciaga ready-to-wear: trompe-l’oeil pantashoes, printed artworks, kick silhouettes, and evening dresses.
In the hands and laps of these characters sits the Bel Air bag, named after the historic Los Angeles neighborhood, known for its glamorous denizens following the cues of the instant-icon Rodeo bag. The Bel Air’s hallmark is a logo-engraved metal twist lock that joins two slender belts across a broad front. Its construction is deceptively relaxed, with a fortified, round-edged build designed to live as a timeless heirloom.
The new line offers a range of versatility in multiple styles, made with naturally smooth leather that obtains an appealing grained patina with wear and a softened Nappa lining. A matte transparent finish is painted on each bag’s exterior, providing a subtle emphasis of the material’s fine qualities.
